Unlike other reviewers, I will review the actual product. Don't give this amazing tool a bad review just because you were sent a different model. What you're providing is actually a lie, when you think about it...
I have used this for over three years, at least 5 times per week. I have never put it in the dishwasher, and I've never had a problem cleaning it out. I don't even use the plastic cleany-thing.
It wastes very little garlic. If you overload it, you will squeeze garlic out the top, instead of out the bottom -where it belongs.
If you need garlic with little juice, you're stuck mincing with a bladed instrument of some sort, but everything else can be handled by this tool.
I had the original Susi for years, and wanted a larger press. I gave the original to my friend when I bought this model, and he's still using it with no problems (I think I bought the original over eight years ago... go, Zyliss).

Zyliss pioneered the hinged garlic press over twenty years ago and has been perfecting its design ever since. This latest model has a section to hold two cloves of garlic at the ready. The plunger action neatly and efficiently presses unpeeled cloves through the face.Zyliss, the Swiss maker of quality kitchen accessories, has refined the garlic press into a streamlined kitchen tool. There's no need to tediously peel garlic before pressing any longer--just place the whole clove into the press and squeeze. The peelings remain in the receptacle and garlic bits and juice are pressed out. The press is easily cleaned with the accompanying cleaning tool, which is conveniently stored in the handle so it won't be misplaced. Just match up the cleaner pegs with the holes in the garlic press to remove remaining peelings. Also, its aluminum construction makes this item dishwasher-safe. --Pamela Zytnicki
